Burdine Thornberry

Burdine Thornberry, 95, of North Ridgeville, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017.  She was born December 23, 1921 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee and resided in North Ridgeville for the past 54 years.  Burdine worked twelve years for North Ridgeville City Schools as a crossing guard for Liberty Elementary and retired in 1988.  She was a member of East Broad Street Church of Christ in Elyria.  She enjoyed exercise and dance.  When she was younger she loved to bake. Burdine’s weekly trip to the beauty shop to get her hair done, gossip with her friends and go to lunch was one of her most cherished social engagements. She is survived by one daughter, Carol Wilburn; four granddaughters, Kelly Minton (who was raised by her grandparents Burdine and Roy), Terri Riley, Traci Borkey and Tiffanie Wilburn; two grandsons Damien and Devon Wilburn; eight great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Roy; one daughter, Patsy Hafner; one grandson, Keith Goodson and her sister Jewell Lovett.  The family will receive friends Friday, October 20, 2017 from 4-7pm at Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd. (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville.  Funeral services will be Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10:00am at the funeral home.  Burdine’s nephew, Pastor Ray Lovett will officiate.  Burial will follow at Fields Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
