Gene R. Yost

Gene R. Yost, 86, of Spencer, formerly of Columbia Station, passed away Monday August 28, 2017 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center in Elyria.  He was born February 19, 1931 in Harrisville, OH.  Mr. Yost has been a resident of Spencer for 23 years and previously a resident of Columbia Station for many years.  He was a veteran of the US AIRFORCE and served from 1952 to 1956.  He was employed by United Airlines at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport for 38 years and retired in 1995.  He started out as a plane mechanic and retired as a plane inspector.  He was a member of North Eaton Christian Church and of the Elyria Men’s Fellowship.  Mr. Yost enjoyed gardening, tractors, hobby farming, bee keeping and golfing.  He also enjoyed helping his children when they were involved in 4H.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy (nee McDowell); two daughters, Luann Brunner (Tom) of Syracuse, NY and Martha Abram (Dale) of Rochester Township; two sons, Curtis Yost of Ashland and Roger Yost (Beth) of Clayton, IN; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Swayne (Paul) and Jane Zimmerman, both of Delaware, OH; one brother, David Yost (Jean) of Leonardstown, MD; and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by; his parents, John M. and Gladys M. (nee Leggett) Yost; and by a sister, Susan Bates. The family will receive friends on Friday September 1, 2017 from 5 to 8pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville.  The Funeral Service will be Saturday September 2, 2017 at 10am at North Eaton Christian Church, 35895 Royalton Rd. (route 82), Grafton (Eaton Township).  Rev. Vern Black will officiate.  Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.  The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either Adena United Methodist Church, 161 E. Main St., Adena, OH 43901 or to North Eaton Christian Church.
