Joel D Acker, 52, of Strongsville, passed away Sunday February 18, 2018. Joel was born in Cleveland on May 12, 1965. He was a Strongsville resident for most of his life and also lived in Orlando, Florida for 12 years. He was a graduate of Cedarville University where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1987. He was a dedicated employee for the Hard Rock Café, where he trained the wait staff to be fun and professional, much like himself. Joel also formerly worked at Wendy’s, and Cartwright Heating and Cooling. An avid lover of animals, Joel had four dachshunds that he would refer to as his children. Some of Joel’s hobbies include: gourmet cooking and health foods, Cleveland sports, being part of the Cleveland Browns Dog Pound, and fitness as Joel was a certified personal trainer. Loving son of Jack and the late Jane (nee Bishop) Acker; dear brother of Jeff (Brenda), and Judi Acker Lucarini; beloved uncle of Christopher, Amanda, Danette, Kelley, Courtney, and Katherine; cherished great uncle to four great nephews, one great niece (and another on the way). The family will receive friends on Saturday February, 24 2018, from 9:30am until the time of the service at 11am at Abram Creek Baptist Church, 18664 Sheldon Rd in Brook Park. Pastor James Beight will officiate. Burial will be at North Royalton Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
