Richard A Counihan

Richard A. Counihan, 98, of North Ridgeville, passed away Wednesday May 24, 2017, at Seasons of Life Hospice in Parma following a short illness.  Mr. Counihan was born May 11, 1919 in Boston, Massachusetts and was a North Ridgeville resident since 1955.  He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the 56th Fighter Group of the Army Air Corps.  Mr. Counihan was an iron worker, retiring in 1983 after 26 years with Iron Workers Local 17. He was an avid model train collector and active in Train Collectors of America.  He is survived by his daughter Maureen Bayless (Glenn) of Elyria; two grandsons, Glenn C. Bayless of Elyria and Scott Bayless (Emily) of Botkins; and six great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Lillian (nee Frank), in 2013; his parents Patrick and Lanie Counihan; and one brother, Frank Counihan.  Private family services will be held with Members of VFW Post # 9871, North Ridgeville, conducting full military honors.
