Douglas Davis Obituary

Douglas Joe Davis, 73, of North Ridgeville, went home to be with The Lord on Tuesday February 27, 2024 at O’Neill Healthcare in Bay Village, following a long illness.  He was born June 21, 1950 in Ironton, Ohio, and was a resident of North Ridgeville for 12 years.  Mr. Davis was a veteran and served in the US Navy from 1968-1974.  While in the Navy, he worked as an aircraft mechanic aboard the USS Henley.  In 1979 he received his associate’s degree in management science from Steed College.  Mr. Davis spent 40 years in the trucking industry and for 3 years he was the Business Agent for Teamsters Local #407 in Richfield.  He retired from Yellow Freight Trucking.  After retiring, he taught truck driving at both the Hamrick and Great Lakes truck driving schools and he drove a school bus for a transportation company.  Mr. Davis was a member of Columbia Road Baptist Church in North Olmsted, where he was formerly involved in the bus ministry and he sang in the choir.  He was a family man who cherished the time spent with his loved ones.  Douglas Davis was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan.  He is survived by: his wife of 21 years, Patricia E. (nee Moody); his children, Heather L. Greer (Dean) of Kingsport, Tennessee, Samantha Fox (Jacob) of Cuyahoga Falls, and Luke D. Davis (Mark) of Copley; his step-children, Mario Cipriano (Brenda) of North Ridgeville, Michael Cipriano (Judy) of Westlake, Anthony Cipriano of North Ridgeville, Theresa Cipriano Castilyn of Snead Ferry, North Carolina, and Angela Chatfield (Michael) of Overgaard, Arizona; three grandchildren, Evan Carter (Celesta), Josh Carter, and Nora Fox; 14 step-grandchildren, Kenny Pedley, Steve Pedley, Jill Sheeler, Jacob Cipriano, Nicholaus Cipriano, Taylor Castilyn (deceased), Anna Cipriano, Paige Castilyn, Troy Castilyn, Olivia Cipriano, Wesley Cipriano, Silas Cipriano, Sophia Bedell, and Michael Chatfield; seven step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Tammy Tanzer (Mike) of Ironton, and Cathy Byrd of New York; and three brothers, Daryl Ed Davis of Ironton, Danny Davis (Suzanne) of Ironton, and David Davis (Nancy) of Cardington, Ohio.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Daryl and Helen (nee West) Davis.  The family will receive friends on Saturday March 2, 2024 from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 1pm at Columbia Road Baptist Church, 4116 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted.  Pastor Alan Jenkins will officiate.  The committal service will be held Monday March 4, 2024 at 12:45pm at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.  The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Missions Fund of Columbia Road Baptist Church.
