George Massel Jr., 73, of North Ridgeville, passed away Monday August 20, 2018 at O’Neill Healthcare in Bay Village. He was born July 23, 1945 in Wilkes Barre, PA. Mr. Massel had been a North Ridgeville resident for 45 years. He was a veteran and served in the US Army as a military police officer from 1965-1967. He formerly worked as a millwright at Republic Steel in Cleveland. George was an avid Batman fan and collected Batman memorabilia. He enjoyed decorating his home for different holidays including Halloween and Christmas. He is survived by; his wife of 51 years, Judy (nee Burk); three daughters, Constance Musarra (Anthony) of Valley City, Tina Massel (Ryan Dieffenbaugher) of North Ridgeville and Sandy Speck (Jim) of Columbia Station; one son, Timothy Massel of Lorain; four grandchildren, Shelby, Anthony, Alexis and Brooke; and by one sister, Maggie Mikles of Parma. He was preceded in death by; his parents, George Massel Sr. and Mary Massel (nee Kondratick); a granddaughter, Anya; and by two sisters, Helen Cuglewski and Mary Stark. The family will receive friends on Thursday August 23, 2018 from 11:30am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. New Life Hospice Chaplain, Rev. John Jackson, will officiate the service. Burial will be at Ridgeville Cemetery in North Ridgeville. Members from the Honor Guard of VFW Post #9871 in North Ridgeville will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.
