Harry E Barker Sr., 88, of Elyria, passed away at his residence on Sunday April 14, 2019, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born January 17, 1931 in Emmons, West Virginia. He was a veteran and served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1954 and was a member of the American Legion. Harry retired from the Ford Motor Company as an Electrician in 1996 after 27 years of service and then enjoyed 20 wonderful years of retirement. He enjoyed spending time hunting, wood working, fishing, bowling, and golfing. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Emma (nee Moore); two children, Gayle "Cissy" Yanus (Rob), and Harry Barker Jr. (Paula); two brothers Gary Barker (Marilyn) and Dave Barker (Thelma); and he was a devoted grandfather and great grandfather to many grandchildren. Harry was preceded in death by; his parents, Percy and Myrtle (nee Payne); two brothers, Gene and Johnny; and his sister Corrine. The family will receive friends on Friday April 19, 2019 from 5:30pm until the time of military honors at 8:30 pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Members from the honor guard of VFW Post #9871 in North Ridgeville, will conduct the military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either The Alzheimer’s Association or to Hospice of the Western Reserve.
