James “Jim” D. Nolan, 63, of Columbia Station, passed away Friday August 3, 2018 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center in Elyria, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Nolan was born July 2, 1955 in Cleveland. He had resided in Columbia Station since 2000 and formerly lived in Lorain. He worked as a security guard at G4S in Independence for 10 years until, because of health issues, he retired in November of 2017. He formerly worked as a corrections officer at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center in Cleveland and at the state correctional facility in Grafton. Jim was an excellent drummer and he played in several local bands including The Tear Drops. He enjoyed collecting model cars, hunting, fishing, cooking outdoors and spending time with his family. He is survived by; his wife of 42 years, Janet (nee Garland); one daughter, April Pollak (Tom) of Olyphant, PA; one son, James “Jim” D. Nolan Jr. (Aida) of Lorain; five grandchildren, Brittany Buhrman (Joshua), Jacqueline Sauder (Ryan), Eric Nolan, James D. Nolan III and Aiden Nolan; three great-grandchildren, Noah and Zoey Sauder and Elijah Buhrman; a niece, Cindy Jones; and by a special sister-in-law, Judy Cretsinger. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Sarah (nee Howard) Nolan. The family will receive friends on Monday August 6, 2018 from 11:00am until the time of the funeral service at 11:30am at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Pastor David Swartz will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, it was Jim’s request that memorial contributions be made to his family.
