Mary A. Belter, 71, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on October 1, 2019 at the Northridge Health Center in North Ridgeville. She was born July 31, 1948 in Berea. Mary was a longtime resident of Florida before moving back to Ohio in 2000. She was a lifelong member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of VFW post 4493 in Florida. Mary cared for her family and pets in every way that she could, loving them all dearly. She enjoyed crafting, gardening, and baking. She was an artistic soul who loved to refinish garden ornaments. She also volunteered at her local voter polling places. Mary is survived by: two children, Michael Woundy of Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands; and Deborah Woundy and wife Dr. Jacqueline Roman, of Poughkeepsie, New York; her grandson, Gunner Woundy; four siblings, Gerard Belter (Gayle), James Belter (Joanne), Kathleen Preston (Glenn), and Joan Mancuso (Joseph); many nieces and nephews; three cats, Sterling, Sugar, and Figaro; and by three dogs, Soldier, Cappy, and Muffy. She was preceded in death by her fiancé of 20 years, Al Ventresca; her parents, Clements and Sybilla (nee Glansbeek) Belter; two siblings, Clement “Dutch” Belter, and Robert Belter; and by her nephew, Jerry Belter Jr.; and by extended family and friends. The family invites friends to join them for a graveside on Wednesday October 9, 2019 at 10am at Strongsville Cemetery, 13123 Pearl Road in Strongsville. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions to be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve. The family also wishes to thank Hospice of the Western Reserve for their incredible services.
