Mary Lee Crawford (nee Shobe) 80, of Elyria, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday April 17, 2019 at her residence in Elyria at Abbewood Assisted Living. She was born on November 5, 1938 in Crawford, West Virginia. While attending 8th grade in Rock Cave, West Virginia, she met the love of her life and future husband, Johnnie Crawford. Mary graduated from Buckhannon Upshur High School in Buckhannon, West Virginia and married Johnnie Crawford on March 30, 1958. Mrs. Crawford had been a long-time resident of Lorain County. Mary was a homemaker who was faithfully devoted to her family. She was a faithful member for many years of Faith Baptist Temple in North Ridgeville where she served under Pastor Ray Carpenter as a Sunday School teacher to all ages. Mary was well loved and admired by everyone who knew her. She enjoyed bowling and she especially had a “green thumb”. Mary Lee Crawford is survived by; her husband of 61 years, Johnnie Crawford Sr.; one daughter, Karen Schultz (Lew Steward Jr.) of Parker, Colorado; two sons, Rev. Johnnie Crawford Jr. (Janice) of Loganville, Georgia and David Crawford (Jeanette) of Trophy Club, Texas; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Augusta “Jane” Hughes; and by one brother, Robert “Bob” Burton Shobe. She was preceded in death by; a son, Robert Dale Crawford; her parents, William Harrison and Nola Bird (nee Black) Shobe; and by 10 siblings. The family will receive friends on Saturday April 20, 2019 from 9am until the time of the funeral service at 11am at Faith Baptist Temple, 34361 Lorain Rd., North Ridgeville. Pastor Johnnie Crawford Jr. and Pastor Jim Barta will officiate. Burial will be at Ridgehill Memorial Park in Amherst Township. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Faith Baptist Temple.
