Paul J. Papes

Paul J. Papes, 77, of North Ridgeville, passed away Wednesday April 4, 2018 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake following a long illness.  He was born on March 26, 1941 in Cleveland and had been a North Ridgeville resident for many years.  Paul was an auto worker and was employed for over 33 years by General Motors at plants in Elyria and Parma.  He retired in 2000.  He enjoyed bird watching, gardening and fishing and he loved being outdoors.  Paul’s greatest joy was to spend time with his loving family.  He is survived by; his wife of 20 years, Judy (nee Lai); three daughters, Donna Jeffries (Dan) of Avon Lake, Deborah Harbart (John) of Lorain and Denise Dutko of Elyria; two sons, John “Steve” Papes of Elyria and James Papes (Stacy) of TN; three step-daughters, Barbara Sponseller of North Ridgeville, Michelle Adkins (Roger) of North Ridgeville and Heather Redick (Tony) of Findlay; and by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Paul was preceded in death by; his first wife, Dorothy Papes in 1989; his step-son, James Gammalo, earlier this year; and by his parents, John and Ann (nee Lippian) Papes.  A private family service will be held.  Liston Funeral Home, North Ridgeville, is serving the family.
