Richard Hays Fogo, 84, passed away on Monday September 3, 2018 at his residence in Elyria. He was born October 12, 1933 in Richland Center, Wisconsin. Mr. Fogo was raised in the state of Washington, raised his family in Cleveland and was a resident of Ohio for many years. He was a veteran and served in the US Navy from 1952 to 1956. Mr. Fogo received his Bachelor’s degree from Woodbury College in California. He worked as a tax examiner for the State of Ohio for many years and retired in the 1980’s. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion and was formerly an active member of Delaware Avenue United Methodist Church in Lorain. He loved to tell stories and never once met a stranger. Richard Fogo is survived by; two daughters, Shelly Davidson of Elyria and Becky Duffy of North Ridgeville; two sons, Michael Kowalsky (Beth) of Seville and Terry Kowalsky (Maureen) of Castle Rock, CO; 10 grandchildren, Tom, Teresa, Tera, Robert, Kathleen Rose, Amanda, Drake, Kelly, Kaitlyn and Ryan; 10 great-grandchildren; and by two brothers, Bill Fogo (Blondie) and John Fogo, both of Washington. He was preceded in death by; his wife, Frances (nee Biehl) in 2002; a daughter, Kelly Lee-Ann Fogo in 1973; a grandson, Tyler McKinney Shirley in 2012; a brother, Bud Fogo; his parents, William Hays and Leela Inez (nee Simpson) Fogo; and by an infant brother. The family will receive friends on Friday September 7, 2018 from 4pm until the time of a memorial service at 7pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Pastor Dan Reinke will officiate the service. Members from the Honor Guard of VFW Post #9871 in North Ridgeville, will conduct full military honors at the memorial service. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The American Heart Association.
