Ruby E. Vaughn (nee Hopkins), 91, a long-time resident of Columbia Station, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Sullivan on Thursday November 14, 2019. She was born January 3, 1928 in Mabscot, West Virginia and was a graduate of Trap Hill High School in Glen David, West Virginia. Mrs. Vaughn had resided in Columbia Station for over 60 years. She was a homemaker and also worked for Columbia Local School as a cafeteria worker for 10 years. Mrs. Vaughn was a faithful member for many years of Stoney Ridge Baptist Church in North Ridgeville. She lived an active life and enjoyed quilting, embroidery and making Christmas candy for her family and many friends. Ruby E. Vaughn is survived by; her daughter, Jane Spies (Rick Hershey) of Sullivan; two sons, James Vaughn (Linda) of Polk and Robert Vaughn (Kim) of Hampton, Virginia; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one sister, Janet Shrewsbury (Donald) of Cullman Alabama; and by one brother, Eddie Hopkins (Lola) of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by; her husband, Roy H. Vaughn in 1996; her son, David Vaughn in 1986; her parents, Silas and Ella (nee Feazelle) Hopkins; and by several brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends on Sunday November 17, 2019 from 2 to 5pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. The funeral service will be Monday November 18, 2019 at 10:00am at the funeral home. Rev. Doug Olsen, chaplain with Pathways Hospice, will officiate the service. Burial will be at Columbia Township Cemetery (West River Road) in Columbia Station. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
