Thomas Bruner Obituary

Thomas E. Bruner, 62, of Elyria, passed away August 8, 2019 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center.  He was born February 9, 1957 in Martins Ferry, Ohio and was raised in Shadyside, Ohio.  Tom was a 1976 graduate of Shadyside High School.  Tom was employed by the City of Elyria Water Department and retired in 2011 after 33 years of service.  He was a member of American Legion Post #12, VFW Post #1079, Amvets Post 32, FOE #431 and The United Polish Club, all of Elyria.  Tom was so proud and happy to become a grandfather.  He loved hunting and fishing with his friends. He loved helping others (something he learned from his childhood).  He loved watching the Browns, Indians and Buckeyes.  He loved listening to music and he never missed an opportunity to dance! He loved spending time with his friends and the family wishes to thank all of them for their love and support.  We especially wish to thank long-time friends, Greg and Cindy Bonafield, Roger and Kim Lehman and Chrissy Fortuna who constantly checked on Tom during his hospitalization and the other things cherished friends do.  Tommy was much loved by his family and friends and he will be greatly missed.  Thomas E. Bruner is survived by: His daughter, Stephanie Stanton (Brian) of North Olmsted; his grandson, Maxwell (and another grandson who will soon be welcomed to the world); also a son and daughter, Joshua and Meghan Bruner of New Jersey; his mother, Anna Bruner (nee Syx) of Grove City; his siblings, Kathy Bruner (James Matoszkia) of Grove City; David Bruner (Michele) of Corona, CA; William Bruner of Riverside, CA and Jennifer DePalma (Peter) of Cortlandt Manor, NY; and by nieces and nephews, Caitlyn, Kyle, Rebecca, Kerri and Jenna.  He was preceded in death by: His wife, Beth A. Bruner (nee Minnich) in 1994; and by his father, Robert Bruner in 1984.  In keeping with Tom’s wishes, a formal service will not be held.  However, a Celebration of Tom’s Life is being planned by the family and will be announced at a later date.  Liston Funeral Home, North Ridgeville, is serving the family.
