Wendy L. Gadus (nee Marek), 65, of North Ridgeville, passed away Thursday December 20, 2018 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center in Elyria following a two year battle with Multiple Myeloma. She was born in Lakewood on March 29, 1953. Wendy was raised in Fairview Park and was a 1971 graduate of Fairview Park High School. She attended Kent State University and was a graduate of the former nurses training program at Lakewood Hospital. She worked as a nurse for many years and was currently employed as the MDS Nurse at the Northridge Health Center in North Ridgeville. Wendy loved her family and especially spending time with her precious grandchildren. She also enjoyed entertaining, cooking, baking, shopping and going out to lunch with her friends. She was also an avid reader. Wendy is survived by; her daughter, Megan Lawson (John) of North Ridgeville; two grandchildren, Elle and J. Michael Lawson; her mother, Betty Lou Marek (nee Thompson) of Fairview Park; her sister, Cindy Leonard (Bill) of Pittsburgh, PA; a niece, Zoey Leonard of Pittsburgh, PA; two nephews, W. Zachary Leonard and Joshua Leonard (Yana), both of Pittsburgh, PA; and by two great-nephews. She was preceded in death by; her husband, Michael Gadus in 2002; and by her father, Eugene Marek in 1977. The family will receive friends on Friday December 28, 2018 from 5 to 7pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 4pm at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to: Mercy Cancer Center in Elyria; The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation; or to the American Cancer Society.
