It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Alex Szoke, 96, a long-time resident of Avon, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Ames Family Hospice, in Westlake. He was born February 26, 1929, in Gyor, Hungary, and immigrated to the United States on July 23, 1957. Alex worked as a window dresser for Sears for 25 years before retiring. He loved to fish, and tend to his garden. Alex is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Rose “Susan”; his son, Alex (Kelly); two grandsons, Clayton, and Alexander; his daughter-in-law, Lorraine; his great grandson, Benson; and many nieces and nephews who still reside in Hungary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jozsef and Erzsabet; his son, Thomas; and his brother, Jozsef. The family welcomes friends to join them on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 4pm to 6pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in Alex’s name.
