Amanda Michelle Thorn, 37, of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday December 8, 2021 at University Hospital in Cleveland following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 7, 1984 in Clarksville, TN and was a life-long resident of Lorain County. Amanda was a 2003 graduate of Elyria High School. She truly loved her job and her co-workers at Beckett Gas in North Ridgeville where she worked in Production for eight years. She had formerly attended and was baptized at Church of the Open Door in Elyria and was currently attending Midway Baptist Church in Elyria. Amanda enjoyed walking, healthy living and being a mom. Her life was focused on God, her son, her family, her friends and her co-workers. Amanda is survived by: her 15 year old son, Landon Peabody; her parents, David and Robin (nee Broome) Thorn of Elyria; her brother, Joshua Thorn of Elyria; her maternal grandmother, Carol Broome (nee Merritt) of Quincey, FL; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by: her maternal grandfather, William Broome; and her paternal grandparents, Rev. Glenn L. Thorn and Rosalie (nee Custer) Thorn. Amanda’s family will receive loved ones and friends on Saturday December 18, 2021 from 11am to 1pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road, (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. A memorial service will follow at 1pm with Pastor Rick Young from Liberty Baptist Church in Elyria and Pastor Rick Keesee from Midway Baptist Church in Elyria, co-officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Amanda’s son, Landon Peabody.
