Anna Lowman Obituary

Anna L. “Lorraine” Lowman (nee Murphy) 89, went home to be with The Lord on Tuesday September 3, 2024 at Kingston of Ashland. She was born February 5, 1935 in Edmond, West Virginia, and graduated from Richwood High School in Richwood, West Virginia.  Mrs. Lowman had been a resident of Lorain County for many years, previously living in North Ridgeville, Grafton, and Wellington.  She loved taking care of her home and family. She also retired from the The Renaissance in Olmsted Township and from being a Home Companion.  Mrs. Lowman was a devoted Christian and a long-time member of Midview Baptist Church in Grafton, where for many years she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.  She was an avid reader and a student of scripture who knew what she believed and why she believed it. She loved to beautifully arrange flowers from her garden and then give them to her friends and family. She enjoyed quilting, gospel music and mowing her 5 acre lawn.  Lorraine Lowman is survived by: two daughters, Karen Johnson (Greg) of Edmond, Oklahoma and Marcia Mohr (Terry) of Elyria; two sons, John Lowman (Lori) of New London and Roger Lowman (Karen) of Simpsonville, South Carolina; 14 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Doris McMillion (David), and Donna Blankenship (Mike), both of West Virginia; four brothers, Wendall Murphy (Ellie) of North Carolina, Larry Murphy of Washington, Ronald Murphy (Jean) of Amherst, and Delbert Murphy (Karla) of West Virginia; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  She was preceded in death by: her husband Ellsworth “Sonny” Lowman in 1982; a great grandson, Brooks Wilcox; her parents, Oliver P. and Rachel E. (nee Haye) Murphy; two sisters, Della Young and Glenna McMullen; and one brother, Gene Murphy.  The family will receive friends on Friday September 6, 2024 from 12 noon to 2pm at Midview Baptist Church, 36710 W. Royalton Rd. (Route 82), Grafton.  The funeral service will follow at 2pm with Pastor Andrew Cuffman, Mrs. Lowman’s grandson-in-law, officiating.  A private burial will be Monday at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.  Memorial Contributions are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
