Beatrice H. “Bea” Thompson (nee Hobby), 82, of Brooklyn, went home to be with The Lord unexpectedly on Friday September 8, 2023 at Parma UH Medical Center in Parma. Bea was born in Cleveland on November 28, 1940. She attended John Hay High School in Cleveland and she graduated with an associate’s degree in accounting from Cuyahoga Community College in 1982. Bea was employed in the accounting department of Baptist Mid Missions in Middleburg Heights from 1986 to 2006 and she remained actively connected after retiring. She was a faithful and active member for many years of Abram Creek Baptist Church in Brook Park (formerly Madison Avenue Baptist Church of Cleveland). Bea loved sharing Christ with others, Bible study and reading. She was also known as the family photographer and she took countless photographs of family gatherings. Beatrice Thompson is survived by: her daughter, Donna Howard (Ronald) of Cleveland; her son, Thomas Thompson (Christine) of Colorado Springs, CO; seven grandchildren, Adam, Kyle and Sean Howard, Lacie, Christian and Kelsey Thompson, and Brandon Thompson; one great-grandson, Michael Brian Thompson; and two sisters, Nancy Puleo (Jay) of CA and Bernice Schutz of FL. She was preceded in death by: her husband B. W. Thompson in 1970; her son, Brian W. Thompson in 2020; her parents, George J. and Bessie E. (nee Bible) Hobby; one brother, John Hobby; and five sisters, Jean Schram, Jewel Ludwig, Dorothy Sherman, Rita Whalen and Jacqueline Hobby. The family will receive friends on Thursday September 14, 2023 from 9:30am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00am at Abram Creek Baptist Church, 18664 Sheldon Road, Brook Park. Pastor James Beight will officiate the service. The interment service will be at 2:30pm on Thursday at West Park Cemetery in Cleveland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Baptist Mid Missions or to the family.
