Beatrice J. Wilson (nee Joiner), 91, of Avon, passed away on Saturday May 8, 2021 at Thomas P. Perciak Family Residential Hospice in Strongsville, after a brief illness. Bea was beloved by family, friends, and her church community. Born in Pennsylvania, Bea moved with her young family to Avon in 1962. In addition to being a wife and mother, Bea worked at Lorain Community Hospital for many years as a respected nurse. After her retirement, Bea’s life had a second act: she traveled abroad, became active in the community at Avon United Methodist Church, and spent lots of time with friends and family. Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, her parents, three older brothers, and many friends, including her oldest friend and neighbor, Cleo. She is survived by: her three sister and youngest brother; her children, Kathy Abfall (Steve), Becky Calderwood, and Ken Wilson (Carla); six grandchildren, Erin Mauch (Rich), Kelly Abfall (Michelle), Carrie Abfall (Andy Paston), Ben Abfall (Courtney), James Wilson (Kristin) and Grace Wilson; and 11 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Bea’s life will be held at a later date. Liston Funeral Home, North Ridgeville, is serving the family. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Bea’s love of family meals together, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Second Harvest Food Bank on North Central Ohio.
