Betty J. Goney

Betty J. Goney (nee Haught), 95, of Sheffield Lake, passed away peacefully following a brief illness, on Monday January 8, 2024 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake.  She was born January 24, 1928 in Washington, Pennsylvania.  Mrs. Goney was previously a long-time resident of Eaton Township.  Before retiring, she worked for 40 years as a bookkeeper at the Penton Publishing Company.  Betty loved cooking for her family, and enjoyed having them for a meal every Sunday! Betty J. Goney is survived by: four daughters, Shirley McKenna (Joe, deceased), Linda Coats (Junior, deceased), Nancy Hamm (Bob, deceased), and Juanita Behrens; five grandchildren, Denise Pringle (Howard), Joseph McKenna (Kelly), Douglas Coats (Tina, deceased), Sherri Murdock, and Brian Hamm (Shanika Easter); many great grandchildren; and two sisters, Jean Schwingel and Juanita Gregg.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Edward L. Goney.  The family will receive friends on Friday January 12, 2024 from 9:30am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00am at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville.  Pastor David Swartz will officiate.  Burial will be at Ridgeville Cemetery, North Ridgeville.  The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
