Carolyn Renner Obituary

Carolyn Renner, 79, of Mayfield Heights, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday February 14, 2021 at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights.  She was born February 14, 1942 in Clinton, Iowa and grew up in northwestern Illinois.  Carolyn first heard the good news of salvation by God’s grace when her family moved to Sterling, IL so that her brother could attend special education classes.  After graduating from high school, she attended and graduated from both Tennessee Temple College and Moody Bible Institute.  She received the assurance of salvation while a college student and followed the Lord in believer’s baptism at that time.  Later, during a missionary conference, the Lord touched Carolyn’s heart to take His Word to Jewish people and he confirmed his guidance to her with Psalm 37:4-5; “Delight yourself in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.  Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in him, and He shall bring it to pass.”  While a student at Moody, she participated in a missionary apprenticeship program with Baptist Mid-Missions which led her to applying and being accepted as a missionary in 1966.  She first worked in Los Angeles and then came to Cleveland in 1969.  She received her 50 year service pin from Baptist Mid-Missions in 2016.  Throughout her years of service, Carolyn was involved in teaching Bible classes, visitation, and a ministry of helps.  She also studied conversational Hebrew, which she began after her first summer working on a Kibbutz in the Jordan Valley with Baptists for Israel.  She felt very privileged to spend six summers working in Israel.  Carolyn is survived by her brother Jim, several special cousins and her loving church family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Margaret (nee Gaar) Renner.  A visitation will be held on Saturday February 20, 2021 at Nottingham Baptist Church, 2921 Bishop Rd., Willoughby Hills, from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am.  Pastor Tim Anderson will officiate the service.  Carolyn will be buried, with her parents, at Walnut Cemetery in Walnut, Illinois.  Liston Funeral Home, North Ridgeville, is handling the arrangements.
