Charles E. Smith

Charles E. Smith, 80, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday April 2, 2020 at his residence, following a lengthy illness.  He was born August 23, 1939 in Midkiff, West Virginia.  Mr. Smith had been a resident of Lorain County for many years.  He worked at Foseco in Brook Park and retired as a Production Lead Man in 2004 after 42 years of service with the company.  Charles was a faithful member for many years of Faith Baptist Temple in North Ridgeville.  He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He also enjoyed deer hunting and spending time in the woods.  Charles E. Smith is survived by: his beloved wife of 56 years, Vivian (nee Myers); his children, Charles E. Smith (Debbie) of Mentor-on-the-Lake, Michael W. Smith (Gildy) of McArthur and Jennifer Smith (John) of North Ridgeville; four grandchildren, Alex, Cindy, Natasha and Jeffrey; four great-grandchildren, Riley, Charles, Madelyn and Brandon; one sister, Mildred Whited (Mack) of Beaver; and by two brothers, Johnny Smith (Evelyn) of Lindsey and Richard Smith (Gloria) of Beaver.  He was preceded in death by: his parents, Bernie and Gertie (nee Arnold) Smith; and by six brothers, Willard, Phil, Halie, Al, George and Donald Smith. The family will receive friends on Tuesday April 7, 2020 from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 1pm at Faith Baptist Temple, 34361 Lorain Rd., North Ridgeville. (Current social distancing guidelines will be followed).  Pastor Emeritus, Ray Carpenter and Pastor Jim Barta will co-officiate the service.  Burial will be private at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Township.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
