Col. Arthur W. Stone

Col. Arthur W. Stone, 90, a long time resident of North Olmsted, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, July 2, 2023. He was born June 2, 1933, in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Arthur was a veteran of the United States Army, and was still active in the local military organizations, including, the North Olmsted VFW post 7647, Rocky River American Legion post 451, and the Military Order of the Cooties. He worked for J&L Steel in Cleveland for 36 years before retiring. Arthur enjoyed golfing, family outings, spending time with friends, and volunteering at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, LaDonna; three children, Terry Stone (Sherry), Pam Horsfall (John); and Melanie Stone; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; and his sister Lori. Arthur was preceded in death by his mother, Irene; his stepfather, Jack; and his sister Jane. The family welcomes friends to join them Friday, July 7, 2023, from 4pm to 7pm, with the service beginning at 7pm at Grace Church of North Olmsted, 4816 Dover Center Rd, North Olmsted. Pastor Dean Good will officiate. Burial will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Monday, July 10, 2023, at 12:15pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rocky River American Legion post 451.
