Colleen King Obituary

Colleen Mary King, 57, of Euclid, passed away Thursday June 13, 2019 in Euclid. Colleen was born December 27, 1961 in Cleveland. She was a caring individual and would give you her last dime if you needed it. She was always a dedicated worker and much of her life was spent caring for the needs of the old and infirm. When Colleen was 16 she was a full-time student and worked part time on the weekends at the Slovenian Home for the Aged. She earned enough money to pay for her tuition at the Notre Dame Academy. After high school she studied at Cleveland State University and worked in the Spinal Research Department at the VA clinic in Cleveland. But Colleen had a different calling. She became Sister Mary Angela of the Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Mark. Long sleepless hours were served there, again, caring for the needs of the infirm and elderly. She never lost her sense of humor though. One morning, after having worked 10 hours straight and then being called out of her bed at four in the morning as a substitute, she was extremely tired. She attended Mass at six in the morning and there, she fell asleep. After Mass, Mother Superior scolded her for falling asleep in church. She made Mother Superior laugh when she said she wasn’t sleeping, she was just meditating. It was at that time Colleen was diagnosed with Lupus (the type that attacks one’s organs). It had been undiagnosed for many years. Cancer and Kidney failure followed and she underwent many rounds of chemo therapy. For many years Colleen suffered excruciating pain but she kept dragging herself to work because she preferred being with others. She fought her illness with a drive no one can imagine, but now, thank you God, she is at rest. She was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Colleen is survived by her mother, Mary Ann King; her siblings, Faith Ann Berry, James Daniel King, Maura Bridgid King, Beth Ann Gorsler (Steven), and her twin brother, Christopher John King (the Late Lynn Marie King-Murphy); and by many nieces and nephews, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, James Robert King. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 29, 2019 from 12 Noon to 2:30pm with a memorial service beginning at 2:30pm at Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd. (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Rev. Andrew Hoover, associate pastor from St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville, will officiate.

Think of me and speak to me,

 Let go of sadness, tears.”
