Daniel D. Bakata

Daniel D. Bakata, 77, of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by his family, on Friday February 27, 2026 in the Emergency Room of UH Elyria Medical Center.  He was born February 18, 1949 in Cleveland and was an Elyria resident for many years.  Daniel was a veteran of the US Army.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and tinkering with different projects around his home.  Daniel D. Bakata is survived by: his children, Daniel Bakata Jr. (Peggy), Thomas Bakata, and Jennifer Grimes (Danny); five grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; his sister, Mary Rivers (Jim); one brother, Joseph Bakata (Anna); and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by: his wife, Dollene (nee Dial) in 2023; his parents, Julius and Evelyn (nee Pipas) Bakata; and five brothers, Paul, John, Erwin, Stanley, and Chester Bakata.  A Celebration of Daniel's life will be held Saturday April 11, 2026 from 12 to 3pm at Harvest Ridge Church, 35600 Lorain Road, North Ridgeville.
