David Lee Guilkey, 88, a longtime resident of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital. He was born June 6, 1936, in Beech Grove, Indiana. David was a veteran of the United States Airforce, where he worked strategic air command for six years. He worked at Invacare in Elyria for 18 years in quality control and worked part-time at the Chronicle Telegram as a paper stuffer, where he met Judy, the love of his life. David was a member of the Church of the Open Door in Elyria, where he regularly attended the Ambassador Sunday school class. He enjoyed going to church, reading, crossword puzzles, and watching Russ, Todd, and Jamie race at the Sandusky Speedway. David is survived by seven children, Russ Bachman (Lori), Todd Bachman, Jamie Bachman (Lindsey), Lori Seitz (Dennis), David Guilkey, George Guilkey, and Leigh Guilkey; nine grandchildren, Brittany, Brooklyn, Emma, Addison, Nico, Brystal, Brandon, Kendall, and Landon; four great grandchildren; and his dear friend Brady. David was preceded in death by his loving wife of 20 years, Judy Guilkey (nee Sigsworth); his stepfather, Russell Sigsworth; and his parents, John and Ruth Guilkey. The family welcomes friends to join them on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 11am to 1pm, with the memorial service beginning at 1pm, at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. The Inurnment will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens, in Avon, where he will receive full military honors following the service. Pastor Bob Wickens from Church of the Open Door will officiate.
