David Reid Ireland

David Reid Ireland, 89, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Monday December 27, 2021 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake.  He was born November 8, 1932 in Lorain and was a 1951 graduate of Lorain High School.  Mr. Ireland was a veteran and served in the US Navy from 1952-1956.  He was formerly employed at US Steel (National Tube) in Lorain and also formerly worked as a produce manager for Krogers in Elyria.  He retired from the shipping department at Ridge Tool in Elyria in 1996 after 30 years of service.  He had been a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in North Ridgeville since 2000.  Mr. Ireland enjoyed woodworking, working out at the gym and spending time with his family and friends.  He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan.  David R. Ireland is survived by: his wife of 68 years, Mary (nee Reyes); four sons, David (Joelle), Thomas (Diane), Robert (Tammy) and Jeffrey; a daughter, Theresa Loy; 13 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by: his parents, Thomas and Catherine (nee Reid) Ireland; two sisters, Helen Duffield and Sophia Kunkle; and a brother, Andrew Ireland.  Per his request, a private memorial service will be held at First Congregational United Church of Christ in North Ridgeville.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the church.
