Donald K. Beckett, 88, of Elyria, went home to be with The Lord, peacefully in his sleep, on Saturday March 25, 2023 at O’Neill Healthcare in North Ridgeville. He was born March 22, 1935 in Smithfield, West Virginia. He had been a resident of Elyria for many years. Mr. Beckett was employed as an electrician at B. F. Goodrich in Avon Lake for 40 years and retired in 1992. He was a Christian who trusted in Jesus Christ as a young adult. For many years he was an active member of Abbe Road Baptist Church in Elyria and formerly of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church in Lorain. He formerly served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and helped with church building maintenance. He was a family man who treasured the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Beckett enjoyed doing yard work with his wife and he was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed the opportunity to go on several short-term missions trips. Donald K. Beckett is survived by: his wife of 69 years, Donna (nee Watson); two daughters, Sharon Green of Elyria and Michelle Stoneking (Ken) of McKinney, TX; his son, Michael Beckett (Sandi) of Greenville, SC; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and a brother, David Beckett (Janie) of West Virginia. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Encil and Helen (nee Showalter) Beckett; and a sister, Susan Allen. The family will receive friends on Tuesday March 28, 2023 from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at Abbe Road Baptist Church, 670. N. Abbe Road, Elyria. Pastor Cal Searles will officiate the service. Burial will be private at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
