Donald W. McConnell Sr., 79, a longtime resident of Lorain, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake. He was born June 29, 1945 in Wadsworth. Donald received his electricians and carpentry certificates from the JVS. He worked for York Heating and Air for 33 years as a spot welder before retiring. Donald was a veteran of the Unites States Army. He enjoyed gardening, camping, bowling, sudoku puzzles, and spending time with his grandchildren. Donald is survived by his four children, Donald II, Sabrina, Anthony, and Samantha (Donald); eight grandchildren, Cheyenne, Ashley, Crystal, Briana, Hailey, Haiden, Leah, and Mason; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Dick, and Jim; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years, Deborah in 2015; his parents, Dare and Leona McConnell; and five siblings, Mary, Peggy, Ed, Bob, and Pat. The family welcomes friends to join them on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 4pm to 7pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. The Funeral Service will be Friday at 1pm at the funeral home. Donald will be laid to rest at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria following the service. Rev. Father Isidore Munishi will officiate. Donald was a man who did not like neck ties and in his honor, the family requests that all attendees dress casual.
