Ernest H. Cantley

Ernest H. Cantley, 91, a long time resident of North Ridgeville passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday November 14, 2021. He was born February 17, 1930 in Beckley, West Virginia. Ernest was a Veteran of the United States Navy, Serving from 1947 to 1950. He worked for the Ford Motor Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1995. Ernest was a Life Member and previous Commander of VFW post 9871 in North Ridgeville, the Lorain County Council and the Military Order of the Cooties. He enjoyed: fishing and duck hunting. Ernest is survived by: his loving wife of 10 years, Ethel Cantley (nee Easterly); his daughter, Vickie Spradlin of Elyria; his son, James Cantley of Eaton Township; two brothers, John Cantley of Huntington, WV, and Goliath Cantely of Charlotte, NC; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  His grandson, Donathan Herron, has been his caretaker for the past three years. He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Billie Keyes Cantley who passed away in 1996; two daughters, Joyce Skinner, and Julia Rich; his sister Virginia and his brother, Robert Cantley, The family welcomes friends to join them on Monday November 22, 2021 from 5 to 7pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road (at Stoney Ridge Rd.),  North Ridgeville. The service will be Tuesday November 23, 2021 at 11 am. V.F.W. Ohio State Commander, James Hordinski will officiate. Burial will be held at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Township. Members from the Honor Guard of VFW Post #9871 will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.
