Ernest (Ernie) Cozzolino, 90 of Elyria, passed away after a short stay at UH Elyria Medical Center in Elyria, Ohio on June 6, 2026. Ernie was born in Lebanon, Virginia, on August 3, 1935. After serving in the US Army 82nd Airborne Division, he moved to Lorain County, Ohio, where he retired from the Ford Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake, Ohio. Ernie enjoyed the outdoors, horses, hunting, fishing, and boating. Ernie is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and one daughter, Sheila Story. He is survived by daughters Patricia Cozzolino & Tena Hart, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a close friend Michelle Mayo. A memorial service to honor Ernie’s life will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at 7 p.m. at Midview Baptist Church, 36710 W. Royalton Rd. (Rt. 82), Grafton, Ohio 44044. A dessert reception will follow. Friends and family are welcome (casual attire). Pastor Tim Mayo will lead the service. The burial, with full military honors, will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
