Ernest L. “Ernie” Moore, 78, of Elyria, formerly of North Ridgeville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday February 19, 2023 at the Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital following a short illness. He was born May 27, 1944 in Turkeytown, Pennsylvania and graduated from South Huntington High School in Ruffs Dale, Pennsylvania. Mr. Moore was a veteran and he served in the US Airforce from 1965 to 1969. He had resided in North Ridgeville for many years. He was employed for over 30 years as a machinist at LTV Steel in Cleveland (formerly J & L Steel) and retired in 2001. Mr. Moore was a man of faith and trusted in Jesus Christ as his Savior. He was a long-time member of Faith Baptist Temple in North Ridgeville and in recent years had been attending Southwest Baptist Church in Brunswick. He loved serving the Lord and others. He also enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, tinkering in his work shop and antique cars. Ernest L. Moore is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Janet (nee Hodge); his daughter, Brenda Bruce (Rob) of Vernon, Michigan; two sons, Rich Moore (Rae Lynn) of Elyria Township and Jeff Moore (Valerie) of Raymond, New Hampshire; eight grandchildren, Jesse (Danielle), Autumn (BJ), Christiana (John), Quinn, Grant, Alaiyna, Ella Joy, and Reese; one sister, Darlene Figiel of Berea; and one brother, Jim Moore (Diane) of Brook Park. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Elgirt and Mae (nee Murray) Moore; one sister, Goldie Wilson; and two brothers, Donald and Albert Moore. The family will receive friends on Thursday February 23, 2023 from 4 to 7pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. The Funeral Service will be Friday February 24, 2023 at 11am at Faith Baptist Temple, 34361 Lorain Rd., North Ridgeville. Rev. Ray Carpenter will officiate. The burial will be on Monday February 27, 2023 at 1:30pm at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Philippines missionary, Carol Woodley, in care of Faith Baptist Temple (please make checks out to Faith Baptist Temple).
