Ethelmae Mayo (nee Shisler), 89, of Grafton, entered Heaven on May 13, 2022. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, friends and her church. Ethelmae was born in Buffalo, NY on May 26, 1932. She was valedictorian of the class of 1949 at Arcade High School. In developing a love of education, she earned degrees at Cedarville College as well as at the University of Akron where her degree was in Elementary Education. She loved teaching 5th grade. Ethelmae married the love of her life, Dean L. Mayo on July 17, 1954. Together, they were instrumental in the starting of Midview Baptist Church. Ethelmae was involved in teaching, missions and hospitality, along with many other ministries at the church. Ethelmae’s greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandma and grammie. She treasured her family and is survived by her five children, Michelle, Margi Deeks (Chuck), Tim (Sara), Dave (Brenda) and Mark. Adding even more joy to her life were her seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. The prayers for her family will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, her seven siblings and her husband, Dean in 2003. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration Service on Friday May 20, 2022 at Midview Baptist Church, 36710 Royalton Rd., (Route 82) in Grafton. Visitation will be from 6 to 7pm with a service honoring the memory of Ethelmae following at 7pm. Dr. Mike Peck will lead the service. An additional time of visitation and fellowship will continue after the service. There will be a private family burial service at River Road Cemetery in LaGrange Township. In lieu of flowers, should you wish to honor the memory of Ethelmae, donations may be made to Midview Baptist Church. Liston Funeral Home, North Ridgeville, is serving the family.
