Evelyn Ann Woernley (nee Brown, formerly Kettel), 75, of Cleveland, passed away at her residence on Saturday November 7, 2020 following a six month illness. She was born March 24, 1945 in Elgin, South Dakota and she had resided in Cleveland for 53 years. Evelyn was a veteran and she served in the U S Marine Corp and the National Guard. She was retired from Fairview General Hospital in Cleveland where she worked for 30 years. She enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, bowling and cooking. Evelyn’s favorite saying was, “May your life be filled with love and laughter and may God bless you real good!” She was devoted to her family and she was thankful for all of her beloved Brighton Avenue neighbors of the past 50 years. Evelyn is survived by: her four children, Angelina Kettel, Christine Kettel Winner, Raymond L. Kettel Jr., and Ryan R. Woernley; seven step-children; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one on the way; three sisters, Joyce Edgell, Mary Fox and Julie Martin (Jimmy); and by four brothers, Ronald, Melvin Roy, James and Dale (Debbie) Brown. She was preceded in death by; her husband, Robert S. Woernley on October 8, 2020; by her parents, Ora and Mildred (nee Lynn) Brown; and by three brothers, Kenneth, Raymond and Dennis Brown. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Taussig Cancer Center at the Cleveland Clinic.
