Gary William Rickert, 83, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 1, 2026, at UH Elyria Medical Center in Elyria.

Born September 23, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, Gary was the beloved son of the late Nelson and Margaret (nee Dilski) Rickert. He was raised in Cleveland and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1961.

Gary spent his career in sales, where his natural gift for conversation and genuine ability to connect with others made a lasting impression on everyone he met. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, proud great-grandfather, and loyal friend. He will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering support, quick wit, and the warmth he brought to those around him.

Gary found great joy in life’s simple pleasures and the traditions he created with the people he loved. An avid collector, he had a lifelong passion for trains and vinyl records, building collections that reflected both his interests and the memories tied to them. He faithfully started each morning with the newspaper, always eager to stay informed and share stories sparked by what he had read. One of Gary’s greatest joys was hosting his annual clam bake each fall around his birthday — a cherished tradition he proudly carried on for more than 40 years, bringing loved ones together year after year.

Gary leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Pauline (nee McQuaid) Rickert; his children, Mike (Lori) Rickert, Chris (Lisa) Rickert, and Lenore Rickert and her fiancé, Jim McGuire; his cherished grandchildren, Collin (Helaina) Rickert, Dylan Rickert, Samantha Rickert, Daniel Rickert, and Maggie Rickert; his great-grandson, Barrett Rickert; and his beloved grand pups, Peggy, Bosa, and Rocky.

Gary’s family will receive friends on Saturday June 13, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:30pm with Pastor David Swartz officiating. Gary will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
