Gary H. Willis

Gary H. Willis 78, a long time resident of Elyria, passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his family following a short illness on Wednesday November 15, 2023. He was born January 2, 1945, in Ansted, West Virginia. Gary was a veteran of the U S Army and served during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Ford Motor Company after 33 years. Gary was a member of VFW Post #9340 in Columbia Station.  He enjoyed fishing, working outside, and tinkering around the house. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Leatha; four children, Gary Jr., Penny, Billy (Sherry), and Laura (Dominic); five grandchildren, Emma, Collin, Sydney, Bruce (Latoya), and Bobby; two great grandchildren, Chloe, and Nathan; and four sisters, Cathy (Donnie), Annamae (Jim), Judy (Danny), and Sandy. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Claudia; two brothers, Bob, and Boyd; and two sisters, Wanda Jean, and Mary Jane. The family welcomes friends to join them Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 10am to 12pm, with the service beginning at 12pm, at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Gary will be laid to rest at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Township following the service. Rev. Chuck Behrens will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
