Gregory L. Berry Jr.

Gregory L. Berry Jr., 52, a long-time resident of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Friday, March 10, 2023. He was born April 25, 1970, in Hagerstown, Maryland. Gregory graduated from North Ridgeville High School in 1988. He was the owner and operator of M&Z Carpet, Inc. for 24 years, and later worked for ArcelorMittal/Cleveland-Cliffs, Inc. for 10 years. Gregory was a member of the United Steelworkers 979. He enjoyed camping, fishing, reading and collecting coins. His happiest moments were spending time with his wife, Cheryl and their children, Mikayla and Zacharia and, most recently, being a Papaw. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Cheryl Rae Berry (nee Lamp); two children, Mikayla Paige Fauth (Ricky), and Zacharia Gregory Berry (Jessi); two grandchildren, Trenton, and Pepper; his mother, Christine E. Mowrer (Richard); three siblings, Jesse Berry, Stacy Wilson (Chris), and Gary Mowrer (Eun Young); his father-in-law, dear friend and confidant, Raymond W. Lamp Sr.; his son, Anthony Yost (Megan); and his best friend, Luna. Gregory was preceded in death by his father, Gregory L. Berry Sr. (LuAnn). The family welcomes friends to join them for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 12pm to 3pm, at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. The service will begin at 3pm. Richard Fauth Sr., a friend of the family, will officiate.  Celebration Reception will be held at Cross Community Church, 525 N. Abbe Rd, Elyria.  Memorial contributions may be made to his wife for Mr. Berry’s Student Snack Shack, a resource he created to support all students needing a free snack during the school day.
