Harold E. Greathouse

Harold E. Greathouse, 86, a resident of both Elyria, OH and Zellwood, FL, went peacefully to join his Savior and many loved ones in Heaven on Monday February 1, 2021 at his Florida residence.  His final days were surrounded by family and friends.  He retired after working 40 years with Ohio Edison and achieved his goal at the young age of 57.  Harold’s journey through life was spent enjoying time with family and friends.  He also enjoyed traveling, wood working, camping, playing cards and golfing.  Pappaw could fix or repair anything.  You could spot him on his scooter at local fairs, picnics and other events.  Our dad never met a stranger and didn’t take anything for granted.  He had a sweet and gentle soul who set a fine example of how to live life to the fullest.  Harold E. Greathouse is survived by; his beloved wife of 63 and a half years, Mary (nee Stewart); his children, Dale Greathouse (Wendy) of Elyria, Lou Ann Fox (Jim) of Wellington and Denise Foster (Gary) of Spencer; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Carolyn Brown (Ron) of Avon Lake; and his brother, Terry Greathouse (Jana) of Parma Heights.  He was preceded in death by; his son, Dwayne Greathouse in 2015; and his granddaughter, Simone Cole and her family in 2010.  The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday February 9, 2021 at 2pm at Homerville Grace Brethren Church, 8992 Firestone Rd., Homerville, OH.  Pastor George Swain will officiate the service.  The family will receive friends from 11:30am until the time of the service. A time of fellowship and a meal will be held immediately following the service. Burial will be private at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Vitas Hospice of Florida at Vitas Healthcare.
