Command Sergeant Major, Jean-Luc Huet, U.S. Army (Ret.), 83, husband of Nguyen thi Huet, passed away on Friday August 22, 2025 at the Cleveland Clinic.
Jean-Luc was born on February 28, 1942 in Orléans, France. He embarked on a military career with the US Army Military Police Corps that spanned almost 30 years until his retirement in 1991. He met his wife, Nguyen thi Huet, in Saigon Vietnam during the Vietnam War and remained happily married until his death. His expansive military career included two tours in Vietnam, assignments as drill sergeant in Fort Meade, Maryland and Fort McClellan Alabama, tours at NATO headquarters in Belgium and as CSM with the 2nd Armored Division in Nuremberg Germany. He earned his Bachelor of Business from the University of Maryland and retired in Jacksonville, AL where he resided for 33 years with his wife. Jean-Luc enjoyed golfing, playing darts, family beach trips to Florida, and spending time with his family including his 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren.
Jean-Luc is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Jacqueline Tillman and step-father Ora Tillman. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Nguyen, daughters Mylan McEwan (Scott) of Atlanta, Kim Gray (David) of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, Natalie Huet Darling of Atlanta, GA, grandchildren, Alexandra, Christian, Isabelle, Sophia and Annie; and cousins, extended family and friends in Strasbourg and Poitiers, France, Norcross, GA, Charlotte NC, and his extended military family throughout the world.
The private funeral service will be held Sunday, August 31, 2025 in Cleveland Ohio for immediate family members. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider honoring his memory by supporting his wife with a donation to Cure Alzheimer’s.
