Jeanette L. (Dorr) Zerby-Smith

Jeanette L. Zerby-Smith (nee Dorr), 86, of Elyria, passed away following a brief illness on Tuesday September 12, 2023 at Amherst Manor Retirement Community in Amherst, with her family by her side.  Jeanette was born September 3, 1937 in Norwalk and she was a graduate of Edison High School in Milan.  She had resided in Elyria for many years.  She was an active member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary at VFW Post #9871 in North Ridgeville, and also a member of the Order of the Cooties and the Elyria Moose Lodge.  Jeanette enjoyed volunteering at hospitals and visiting shut-ins at nursing homes, especially veteran’s.    Jeanette is survived by: her daughter, Sherrie Yun of Wellington; two sons, Jeff Yun of Washington State and Richard Yun of Florida; many grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by: her loving husband of 12 years, Larry Smith; her parents, Russell and Leola (nee Ohlemacher) Dorr; and her sister, Elizabeth Ann Clausen (the late Peter).  The family will receive friends on Friday September 22, 2023 from 11:00am until the time of the Memorial Service at 1:00pm at Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville.  Pastor David Swartz will officiate. Members from the Auxiliary of VFW Post #9871 will also conduct a special service in honor of their departed member. The interment will be private at Milan Cemetery in Milan.
