Joan J. Neighbors, 85, passed away peacefully March 14, 2026 while under the care of Prestige Hospice at Fairmont of Westlake. She recently moved here from her home in Bucyrus, Ohio. She was born April 3, 1940 in Cleveland, OH to the late Helen (Zadrazil) and Earl Rezabek. She was raised by her mother Helen and her beloved step-father Nicholas Weis. She was married to the late Vernell Neighbors on March 4, 1991.
Joan graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in 1958 and went on to become an administrative assistant for many years. She found joy in the simple pleasures of being in nature, tending to her garden, spending many hours fishing and camping. She won many awards for her famous apple pie at The Ohio State Fair. She loved to cook and bake for family and friends. She was also an excellent marksman.
Joan is survived by her son Nicholas (Shellie) Kearsey, her sisters Carol (Nicholas) Kristoff, and Marie Hamlett and her step-grandchildren Brian (Corinne) Blackstone and Jarred Blackstone.
There will be no visitation and internment will be held at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria, OH. Memorial contributions can be made to Cypress Hospice, Berea, OH
