John E. Hill, 84, a resident of Columbia Station for over 50 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake. He was born November 10, 1939, in Homer City, Pennsylvania. John was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked as a machinist for Smith & Harris Machine Co. for many years before retiring. John enjoyed gardening, reading, sudoku, and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ellen Hill (nee Bell); three children, John E. Hill Jr. (Lisa), Linda Donelon (Doug), and Miranda Bucknavich (Bob); five grandchildren, Amanda, Michael, Shayne, Joseph, and Daniel; his brother, Paul; his sister, Gladys; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Alice Hill; his grandson Allen Donelon; two brothers, Jim, and Don; and his two sisters, Alice, and Martha. A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 11am at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Twp. Rich Gray of Faith Lutheran Church, Avon, will officiate. Members from the Honor Guard of VFW Post #9871 in North Ridgeville, will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.
