Jose L. Rivera

Jose L. Rivera (our Superman), 46, of Elyria, went home to Heaven on August 15, 2025 following a long illness.  He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on May 16, 1979.  Jose came to the United States at age 8 and lived in Cleveland before moving to Lorain County 15 years ago.  He was a man of deep faith in Christ, and he was a member of Faith Baptist Temple in North Ridgeville.  Jose was also a member of the Prodigal Knights, a Christian biker group.  He loved cooking.  He also enjoyed fishing, sports (especially baseball), and riding his motorcycle.  Jose was very proud of his family.  He is survived by: his wife, Tasha Hoon, whom he was married to for 17 years and together for 23 years; two sons, Sebastian and Christian; four daughters, Cristina, Alexis, Emma, and Skylar; his granddaughter, Amina; two sisters, three brothers; and many nieces, nephews, and “adopted” children.  Jose was preceded in death by: his parents, Jose M. and Elizabeth (nee Rodrigues) Rivera; and a brother, Julio Rivera.  The family will receive friends on Saturday August 23, 2025 from 11am until the time of the Funeral Service at 1pm at Faith Baptist Temple, 34361 Lorain Road, North Ridgeville. Pastor Jim Barta and Brother Ray Carpenter will co-officiate the service.
