Kathryn L. Beckes (nee Skemp), 74, a long time resident of Lorain County, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 30, 2023. She was born October 21, 1948, in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania. Kathryn received a Bachelor’s degree in English from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and her Master’s degree in Adult Education from Cleveland State University. Following college, Kathryn was a Math and Science teacher for 45 years before retiring. She was an avid crossworder and reader. Kathryn had a strong faith in God, enjoyed reading The Bible and found comfort in prayer. She is survived by her four children, Stephanie Arnott (Alan), Shawna Kobelka (Ken), Tim Beckes, and Stacey Beckes; six great grandchildren, Natalie, Alizsa, Alexandra, Benjamin, Gabrielle, and Lisette; two sisters, Karen Wright (Joe), and Mary Hartman; and many nieces and nephews. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Virginia Skemp; and her brother-in-law, Allen Hartman. The family welcomes friends to join them Tuesday, June 6, 2023 from 11am to 1pm, with the service beginning at 1pm, at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon. Pastor Dave Swartz will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friendship Animal Protective League.
