Kenneth E. Harper, 83, of Elyria, passed away at his residence on Tuesday September 26, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 4, 1940 in Sutton, West Virginia. Kenneth had resided in Elyria for 55 years and was a retired truck driver. He was a member of West Ridge Baptist Church in Amherst for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, bike riding, and camping. Kenneth Harper is survived by: his five daughters, Linda Harper of Elyria, Bonnie Hamilton (Richard) of Elyria, Peggy Harper of Elyria, Janice Smith of Elyria, and Shirley Provoznik (Daniel) of Olympia, WA; five granddaughters, Elizabeth Hamilton, Amber Whitsell, Melinda Veres (Andrew), Kaleigh Smith and Lindsey Smith; three grandsons, Jesse Hamilton, Christopher Provoznik, and Daniel “Scotty” Provoznik; 11 great granddaughters; 9 great grandsons; two sisters, Faye Shrum (Mike) and Brenda Berry (Jim); and six brothers, Ernest Harper (MaryLou), Wilbert Harper (Debbie), Everett Harper (Audrey), Dwight Harper, Delmas Harper, and John Harper. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Sue Harper (nee Hamner) in 2020; his parents, Lester and Ocie (nee Fisher) Harper; his grandson, Kenneth E. Hamilton in 1979; two great grandsons, Alex Hamilton in 2007 and Grayson Hules in 2023; and by a sister, Dorothea Harper. The family welcomes friends to join them on Saturday September 30, 2023 for visitation from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 1pm at West Ridge Baptist Church, 46280 Telegraph Rd., Amherst. Rev. Roger Rice will officiate the service. A luncheon will be held following the service. The burial will be on Monday at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
