LaVerne M. Bakata (nee Dial), 85, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday May 30, 2026.  She was born in Cleveland on June 3, 1940, and had resided in North Ridgeville for 60 years.  LaVerne was retired from the housekeeping department at the former Center Ridge Nursing Home, now O’Neill Healthcare, in North Ridgeville.  She was a former member of the Elyria Moose Lodge.  LaVerne enjoyed gambling, going for walks in the park, and going to Huntington Beach.  LaVerne Bakata is survived by: her daughter, Tammy Callahan (Wayne) of North Ridgeville; her son, Erwin Joseph Bakata Jr. of North Ridgeville; five grandchildren, Donny, Sabrina, Tony, Samantha, and Cindy; 10 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and two brothers, David Dial, and Fred Dial (Linda).  She was preceded in death by: her husband, Erwin Joseph Bakata Sr.; her daughter, Deborah McConnell; her parents, Franklin and Irene (nee Leach) Dial; three brothers, Frank, Glenn, and Thomas; and two sisters, Caroline and Dollene. A Celebration of LaVerne’s life is being held on Saturday July 11, 2026 from 2 to 6pm in the Fellowship Hall of First Congregational United Church of Christ, 36363 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville.
