Margaret I. “Peg” Hopkins (nee Watson), 93, of North Ridgeville, passed away on December 25, 2021 at O’Neill Healthcare in North Ridgeville. She was born February 19, 1928 in Rochester, New York. Mrs. Hopkins had been a resident of North Ridgeville for 44 years. She was a homemaker and also worked outside the home doing house cleaning. Mrs. Hopkins had been a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in North Ridgeville for many years. She enjoyed studying Civil War history and was related to Abraham Lincoln through his mother, Nancy Hanks. She also enjoyed ghost stories and she was an avid reader. Margaret I. Hopkins is survived by: one son, Mark Hopkins of North Ridgeville; five grandchildren, Rev. Shannon Trenton, Mark Hopkins Jr., Karen, Andrea and Jillian Hopkins; several great grandchildren; a brother, Douglas Watson (Patty) of Georgia; a brother-in-law, Ken Hopkins Sr. (Margaret) of Champion, OH; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by; her husband, Raymond Hopkins in 2002; her son, David Hopkins in 2000; her parents, Walter and Myrtle (nee Garwood) Watson; and two brothers, Richard and Duane Watson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday January 4, 2022 from 10:00am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Mrs. Hopkins’ granddaughter, Rev Shannon Trenton and Rev. Dianne Tobey Covault, will co-officiate the service. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Society for the Protection of Animals.
