Marilyn E. Scheck, born November 21, 1941, beloved mother of four children, grandmother of three, and great grandma of two, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025 in Delray Beach, Florida, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and love. She worked at the Brecksville VA Hospital as a Contract Specialist for 30 years. To her coworkers and friends at work, who referred to her as “Teri” a name she coined herself, she was known as a hard -working person who cared about the people around her.
Born to Markus and Emma Kleinhenz, Marilyn grew up with Kathi, Dennis, David, and Bob in Cleveland, Ohio. She later married Alan, and together built a beautiful family. As a devoted mother, Marilyn poured her heart into raising her children with kindness, goodness, wisdom, and support. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren described her as quiet, gentle, and kind. They knew their grandma loved animals and when they went to visit her house, they felt like they were going to the zoo. Grandma enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren by sharing stories, showing off her new favorite ‘dinosaurs’ and ‘animal friends’, playing games, and celebrating birthdays with cards, gifts, and especially cake. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren will cherish the special moments they had with her. She was a good listener and a loyal friend, as well as, an avid animal lover. All life was precious to her which was represented by her love for all creatures. Marilyn described herself as quiet, smart and creative. She was an animal advocate and enjoyed nurturing her numerous plants throughout her lifetime. She found happiness and peace through her many furry best friends which included: Phoebe, Nikita, and, of course-her most precious gift-Jazzi. Our mother was the backbone of the Scheck Family, and she sowed good roots and space for our family to grow. Her kindness, humor, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Although she is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in our hearts and within the hearts of the people she touched. May her memory be a blessing. She is survived by: daughters, Shari Hoover and Keli Coletti (Louis); sons, Michael Scheck and Jason Scheck (Naoko Garcia); grandchildren, Jeremy Hoover (Christine), Ben Hoover, and Megan Moody (Keith); great grandchildren, Autumn and Caleb; siblings, Kathleen Grice, and Bob Kleinhenz (Joyce); and a sister-in-law, Joanne Kleinhenz.
