Mary Naomi (Schmelzer) Seman

Mary Naomi Seman (nee Schmelzer), 77, of Oberlin, formerly of North Ridgeville, died peacefully on Wednesday September 23, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Lorain after a brief illness.  Mary was born on January 27, 1943 in Prospect, Ohio.  She was a devoted wife to her husband of 58 years, Thomas Seman; beloved mother of her three children, James Seman, Katheryn Womack and Christopher Seman; and a loving grandma of nine.  Mary was also a great friend to many people, too many to count!  She was preceded in death by; her parents, Homer and Betty (nee Betz) Schmelzer; by a brother, David Schmelzer; and by a sister, Virginia Murphy.  Mary was an active part of her community by facilitating many programs at the Office for Older Adults in North Ridgeville and by participating as a long-time officer in her TOPS group.  Mary touched everyone that she ever met.  She loved sending greeting cards out to everyone that she knew for everything! Mary was an avid reader, she enjoyed crocheting, and she has spent a lifetime taking care of an assortment of animals, especially cats.  She loved spending time with her family and her favorite activity was going on cruises with Tom.  They saw so much of the world together from the deck of a cruise ship.  Mary was also the matriarch of her side of the family and often hosted large family reunions.  She has left a huge hole in our lives and she will be sadly missed, every day.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday September 30, 2020 from 4 to 7pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville.  A private funeral service will be held on Thursday at the funeral home followed by burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.  The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society or to the Lupus Foundation.
